Safe Homes:

The Home

We provide a safe, stable, and structured home to our youth with both residential staff and community relationship common areas. We provide community meals together as well as give the opportunity for our youth to learn new recipes, cook with and for others, and learn from each other through dinner conversation and lounge time connections. We teach home care and upkeep for the youth which enables them to experience maintaining a home both on the interior and exterior. We aim to create and cultivate a safe home for those who may not have had a stable living environment. This is accomplished through supportive, committed, and influential staff as well as through independent living and other home life skills.

Transportation

Our program also assists youth with transportation to and from work, appointments, grocery shopping, community service projects, and various other needs and growth opportunities. The youth are also able to use the vehicles as well, contingent upon earned access. We provide teaching life skills through transportation and automotive skills such as changing oil, brakes, a multi-point vehicle inspection, and assistance with more advanced needs as well. Through transportation assistance, we are able to help youth gain independence, progressive living, and also financially assist residents with the purchase of their 1st car!

Spiritual Strengthening:

We believe a solid relationship and foundation with Jesus Christ is critical in our youth’s journey in becoming and remaining successful in all life has to offer. We provide various opportunities, both on side and in our community, for spiritual strengthening such as: weekly Bible studies, devotionals, journaling, modeling Christ like living, informal peer fellowship, as well as our staff remaining accessible to dig in more on a one-on-one level.

Relationships:

We believe that alongside safe homes, grace-filled relationships are another huge part of what God allows us to give to the youth in our program. Lakeshore Lifeworks is a safe place to make mistakes and know that we will love and support our youth through whatever they may be going through whether emotionally, spiritually, physically, or financially.

Staff Empowerment:

We believe it is critical for us to not only prepare, but train our staff and volunteers to assist our youth in their lives. The training for staff ranges from how to deal with trauma/crisis, to leadership development and strengthening. We strive to be resourceful and influential in assisting our youth here at Lakeshore Lifeworks.

Community Engagement:

We believe serving within our community is an important life skill for our youth to gain a sense of stewardship and balance. Relationships with various organizations, community engagement, and serving opportunities are examples of how we guide our youth to give back.
